Well... I was so unhappy with my hair 😣.. It was dry, it was short and it never did what I wanted it to do! All the years before this I had been wearing my hair straight and I can't lie.. that was easy! 😅 It made me feel good about myself and I was ready to go... Now my dry natural hair was making me feel so insecure! 😓
I had no clue what to do with this mess on my head. 😏 So while I was thinking about flexi rods, curling irons or updo's or whatever.. I realized non of those methods would actually make me feel better... It would take too much time and the risk of the results not being satisfying was too big.. 😭
So here I was Christmas day.... my cute Christmas outfit on....at my apartment... by myself... looking in the mirror... What are you going to do Chanyn!?? 🤦🏾♀️ Part of me just wanted to leave and not care... but the bigger part of me wanted to feel and look good, like I always did on Christmas Day! 💃🏾
So.....I ended up flat-ironing my hair.... It was all I knew.. It was guaranteed to look good, right?... 🥴 So there I was on Christmas, spending 3 hours straightening my hair. While my family was wondering where I was.. as I missed our traditional Christmas brunch. 😐🙄
When I finally showed up, I felt good about my looks.. but I missed half the day and I felt like I failed my natural hair journey.. 😕 Was I too insecure to wear my hair natural? Or was my natural hair just too much?
Well... turend out I had a lot to learn.... I wanted to feel good with my natural hair and not have to straighten my hair to feel beautiful. ✊🏽 Have you ever been in that situation?
Well luckily.. now I have my Christmas hairdo all figured out! I realized that healthy hair makes beautiful hair! 🤩 And for me.. it also meant having longer and thicker hair.. Do you you ever dream about longer or thicker hair? 🙋🏾♀️ I know I have!
Well.. this new method I have been using has made my hair healthier then ever and actually helped my hair grow about 2 inches per month! 😱 I know... crazy right? So this Christmas I am rocking my natural curls down to my back. And it won't cost me a heartbeat missed! I get to enjoy Christmas with my own family now 👨👩👧.. And see my daughter open up her gifts early morning. 🎁🎉
